| I thought since it had been sometime, it might be nice to say hello, so hello. I have been in our new appointment for about 6 months and love being here. The only setback, according to Tina is the alleged cold temperatures. I was out on an EDS call for a fire last Sunday and it was a balmy 17 below, before the windchill. I thought the icicles on the facial hair was a nice touch to say the least, it looked cool, and it was very, very cool! Christmas is white here for sure. We are still adjusting to the new appointment and even though we all do Christmas and other programs, it seems that everyplace has their own special way of getting it done. But it is all good. We will miss being with family at Christmas as we are all so very far apart, but I suppose that is why God created cell phones and email. Well work calls, so for those of you reading this, Merry Christmas. Later Mike | | |
| Cleaning, Packing, Moving Companies falling through, UHAUL to the rescue, except they don't have the truck they reserved for me! Sick kids, Day Camp, stressed staff. I have come to the conclusion, it never ends, the officers leave with stuff needing done and the next comes in and takes over, as we will where we are going. BUt God is in it all: I think, if we can keep that in mind, it helps keep perspective and peace of mind. The work is God's and I am a helper, let it go Captin, God has it in hand. I need reminded now and then. Anyway, hello to all who may read it, feel free to say hello back, else, I will forget to post. Later | | |
| Seems like forever since I have posted, but then again time flies when your having fun heh? We are doing well and are enjoying pastoring and all that goes along with officership. I actually went fishing for the first time in over a year, cleaned the fish right there and cooked it with the new camp stove my daughter gave me. MMMMmmmmm it was soooo good. Well, I am tired and have to get up early again tomorrow, we did the morning show on the radio this morning and then worked late on some projects. Hope you had a good April fools day, I got two of my kids. HEHEHE. Blessings | | |
| Since my daughter posted, I felt compelled to say something as well. I catch myself reading my Xanga subscriptions everyday, but have not felt like posting, or was too busy. I am just beginning to feel normal again from the Christmas rush. We did well in our campaign, made and exceeded our goal. We have had lots of paper work to do, and meetings. We just finished vital signs, but now are having meetings to develop a long term vision and direction. Officers Councils are just around the corner, and I am looking forward to them. This time we are having a wonderful speaker talk to us on Holy Living. We also get to have camp planning meetings and other business, but I love working with other people, it is fun. I have had shoulder surgery to repair some damage which was pretty painful. I was supposed to be an out patient, but because I have sleep apnea I was kept overnight to make sure I did ok, especially since I was given pain meds, which can affect your breathing. The hospital, Ortho West was more like a nice Hotel, even had steak on the regular menu, omelets made to order, it was a step above what I am used to. I am two weeks post surgery and the pain is much better and I think improved even to levels before surgery. In time, I will be as good as new, well, at least in my shoulder. Sure seems like I have gotten to know the Doctors around here this last year, hopefully this year will be different. I am enjoying being an Officer, I will say it is not always easy, but I enjoy the work, and have fun for the most part. I think, for me, it has been and is the best job I have ever worked at. BUt then again, to be doing what God wants me to be doing is reward in itself. I really love our Corps people, and I can only describe the relationships as that of family. Keep us in your prayers. Well my good friends, I have posted and have to get around this morning to open an event with prayer, and I get free breakfast too. I seem to be popular for being asked to pray to open community events. Seems some people are shy to pray in public. Have a great day. I will try here, it is pretty chilly out, well below zero this morning. Later | | |
| If you listen, you can hear the peal of thousands of bells being rang by as many volunteers and employees of the Salvation Army. After ringing all day, you can even hear them in your sleep at times. You might think that the constant ringing would be an annnoyance, but remember what the ringing is doing, every coin and bill dropped into the kettle heading to make an impact in the lives of men, women, children, families, and for some reason the pealing of the bell, becomes a little more appealing to the ear. I hope this finds all who stop by to read this well. I have not posted in ages, and lots has happened, too much to type here, besides I am tired and am going to bed soon. My family is doing pretty good. It is difficult for young adults to find their way in the world. Keep my kids in prayer. No horrible problem type things, just typical life stuff, money for school, cars etc. I noticed a younger friend had recently subscribed to my Xanga, welcome to him and I hope things are going well. Wellll, I am going to say goodnight. It might be sometime again before I post, I tend to be pretty busy right now. But you never know. Merry Christmas to you, and I hope you find peace and happiness this wonderful season of hope as we celebrate the birth of the Christ Child. Later MIke | | |
